Fluito for the Commonwealth Games

A large-scale outdoor public art installation celebrating aquatics, created for the Commonwealth Games.

The experience invited audiences to explore the many layers of water, from its beauty and restorative qualities to the urgent challenges surrounding it. Through immersive storytelling, the work celebrated the agility and strength of elite swimmers, both local and international, while also highlighting the positive mental impact of being in water.

Alongside this, the installation addressed critical global issues, including water inequality across Commonwealth countries and the impact of ocean pollution, encouraging reflection on our collective relationship with this vital resource.

An accompanying AR experience extended the work beyond the physical installation, making it accessible to audiences unable to travel to Birmingham and to those attending aquatics events.

Fluito reflects our approach to creating impactful, multi-layered experiences, balancing playfulness and beauty with urgent environmental narratives.

“Climate anxiety can leave people feeling overwhelmed rather than inspired to change. The experience of Fluito is playful and memorable and although people do need to alter their behaviours, I wanted to showcase there is beauty in the future and a purpose to changing.”
